ABOUT THE FIRM

De La Torre Law, P.C. is owned and operated by attorney Hugo Ruiz de la Torre.  

Hugo is a litigator and general practitioner with over ten years of legal and courtroom experience.  He began his career in the litigation department of a top AM 100 law firm in New York City.  There, he handled a variety of cases relating to commercial litigation, small business disputes, allegations of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, negligence, internal investigations, and trademark infringement, among others.

He also dedicated significant time to assisting pro bono clients with immigration issues, as well as helping local artists with intellectual property disputes.  

​

After his time working at a large law firm, Hugo worked for a mid-size firm managing general liability claims, including premises liability, construction accidents, motor vehicle accidents, product liability, and various other negligence claims. 

 

He currently represents clients facing a multitude of legal issues, including personal injury claims, breach of contract, negligence, fraud, and malpractice.

During law school, Hugo was an editor at the Cardozo Law Review.  He also participated in Cardozo's Innocence Project Clinic, where he assisted in representing individuals with claims of wrongful conviction and seeking exoneration based on DNA evidence.

B.A., cum laude
New York University

Hugo received his B.A. in Politics at NYU.  During his time there, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu, serving as Philantropy Chair.
